Seanad Éireann - Volume 184 - 25 October, 2006

Business of Seanad.

An Cathaoirleach: I have notice from Senator Finucane that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to confirm when work will start on the Athea sewerage scheme, County Limerick, as housing development is being impeded owing to a lack of an appropriate sewerage scheme.

I have also received notice from Senator Kitt of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to outline the position on the Mountbellew sewerage scheme, County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Ulick Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide details of the amount of subvention and enhanced subvention allocated by the Health Service Executive western region for nursing homes in the west, the way in which the subvention criteria are applied, and the reasons for the variations in subvention from one HSE area to another.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to clarify the position regarding the inequity of charging fees of more than €6,000 for a student repeating a college year, with the allied loss of third level grant provision, in circumstances where she is relying for funding on a widowed parent whose sole income is disability benefit, and to outline how, under natural justice, such a punitive measure can be enforced.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I [1830]have selected the matters raised by Senators Finucane, Kitt and Ulick Burke and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Bannon may give notice on another day of the matter that he wishes to raise.
