European Communities (Amendment) Bill 2003: Committee and Remaining Stages.

SECTION 1.

Question proposed: “That section 1 stand part of the Bill.”

Mr. Mooney: As I have an interest in history I see an historical anomaly—

Mr. Ross: Perhaps I am wrong but I thought we had agreed to finish at 1 p.m

An Leas-Chathaoirleach: We agreed Second Stage would finish at 1 p.m.

Mr. Mooney: There is an historical anomaly in this but I will not ask the Minister to comment on it. Section (r) states: “the Treaty concerning the accession of the Kingdom of Norway.” Norway opted out following that signature. This is unusual legislation because it includes a country [800]which is not a member of the European Union, although we are discussing accession.

  Question put and agreed to.

  Section 2 agreed to.

  Title agreed to.

Bill reported without amendment and received for final consideration.

Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs (Mr. Roche): I thank the Senators for their consideration of the Bill.

Ms Ormonde: I thank the Minister of State. I will not delay him further as I know he is in a hurry.

Mr. Bradford: I thank the Minister for his attendance.

  Question put and agreed to.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach: When is it proposed to sit again?
