Securitisation (Proceeds of Certain Mortgages) Bill, 1995: Motion for Earlier Signature.

Mr. Burke: I move:

That, pursuant to subsection 2º of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Securitisation (Proceeds of Certain Mortgages) Bill, 1995, on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to her.

I thank the Minister for coming to the House to deal with Committee Stage. He had other commitments yesterday and could not attend.

Minister for Finance (Mr. R. Quinn): I appreciate the co-operation I have once again received from both sides of this House. I would have been here yesterday had I not had a prior commitment in the other House for Question Time. My colleague the Minister of State, Deputy Coveney, told me about the positive response he received from [860] this House. It came as no surprise to me. I appreciate the speedy way in which the House has met our requirement to have this matter dealt with.
