Seanad Éireann - Volume 127 - 12 December, 1990 Business of Seanad. An Cathaoirleach An Cathaoirleach An Cathaoirleach: I have notice from Senator Tony McKenna that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter: The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that approved extension to the primary school, at Carrig, Birr, County Offaly, is completed as quickly as possible. 2 [2] I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter: The need for the Minister for Justice to review the case of a prisoner in Arbour Hill (name supplied) with a view to exercising his ministerial prerogative of commuting the sentence in the light of its comparative severity taking into account the circumstances of the case. I also received notice from Senator Shane Ross of the following matter: The need for the Minister for the Environment to outline the criteria used in the distribution of national lottery funds. I also received notice from Senator Pól Ó Foighil of the following matter: 3 The need for the Minister for the [3] Environment to make funds available to bodies of approved status for the annual maintenance of accommodation built under section 5 of the Housing Act, 1988. I also received notice from Senator Joe Costello of the following matter: The need for the Minister for Health to make provisions for the retention of the Health Research Board Laboratories in Trinity College, Dublin, which has made a huge contribution through fundamental research in combating leprosy and other diseases. I also received notice from Senator Pat Upton of the following matter: The need for the Minister for the Environment to ensure that proper safety standards are maintained in large, old vehicles which have a capacity to carry passengers. I also received notice from Senator John Dardis of the following matter: The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide Kilcullen, County Kildare, with a northern access road off the new motorway by-pass of that town. I regard the matters raised by Senators McKenna, Norris, Ross, Ó Foighil, Costello and Upton as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator McKenna's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Norris, Ross, Ó Foighil, Costello and Upton may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise. I regret that I have to rule the matter raised by Senator Dardis is not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
