Seanad Éireann - Volume 19 - 12 December, 1934

Election of Leas-Chathaoirleach.

Cathaoirleach: The next item on the Order Paper is the fixing of a date for the election of Leas-Chathaoirleach. I should like members of the House to assist me in this matter, because it is the House that decides on what day we shall have the election.

Mr. Blythe: I move: “That the election take place on this day week, the 19th December.”

Mr. Connolly: I second.

Question put and agreed to.

Cathaoirleach: The election will be the first business on the Order Paper for that day. I should like to remind Senators that the formal nomination of candidates to fill the post must be with the Clerk by 4 o'clock on Friday next.
