Cathaoirleach: Dáil Eireann has disagreed to the amendment made by Seanad Eireann to the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) (No. 2) Bill, 1934.

Colonel Moore: I move:—

That the Seanad do not insist on the amendment, but insert the following amendment in lieu thereof:—

Section 1. To delete in line 20 the figures and words “31st day of July” and to substitute therefor the figures and words “31st day of March.”

This matter has been argued, and I think everybody knows most of what has been said about it. It is not worth while going any further into the details. I raise this merely as a matter of agreement, and I think it will be agreed by most, if not all, of the Senators that some sort of agreement is desirable. The date, 31st March, which is the end of the financial year, is a good date to fix for this particular purpose, and a date which would have constantly arisen in ordinary times. I do not think it is necessary to say any more about it.
