MINISTER OF DEFENCE MINISTER OF DEFENCE

The MINISTER OF DEFENCE submitted a verbal report and made a suggestion for dealing with the new Regulations regarding Hostages issued by the enemy.

SUBSTITUTE DIRECTOR OF PROPAGANDA Desmond FitzGerald

The SUBSTITUTE DIRECTOR OF PROPAGANDA said he would like to hear legal opinion about Habeas Corpus action in the matter.

After considerable discussion the following motion was adopted, with three dissentients.:—

“That the Ministry are empowered to sanction measures to deal with the Order regarding Hostages recently issued by the Enemy, provided that if the policy outlined by the Minister for Defence be adopted, formal notice be given.”
