[494] Deputy Ciarán Cuffe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the five highest value contracts entered into or authorised by her Department in 2008 for capital spending; the five highest value contracts entered into or authorised for current spending; the company or body awarded the contracts; the value of the contracts; and the nature of the work.   Deputy Mary Coughlan: The information requested by the Deputy in respect of contracts entered into from current spending by my Department (including the Offices of my Department such as the Companies Registration Office, the Patents Office, etc.) in 2008 is as set out in the table below.

In so far as capital investments funded through my Department’s Vote are concerned, these are undertaken by my Department’s Agencies such as IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland etc. and as such are day-to-day matters for the Agencies themselves and not decided on by me or my Department. My Department does not directly expend capital moneys.
