Deputy Enda Kenny asked the Minister for Finance the number of freedom of information requests received by his Department each month in 2007 and 2008 in tabular format; the number acceded to; the number refused; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5401/09]

Deputy Brian Lenihan: My Department received 66 FOI requests in 2007 and 180 requests in 2008. As well as “the number acceded to” and “the number refused”, there were a number of requests which were “part granted” and others which were “withdrawn”. (In general, those withdrawn requests were either transferred to other Departments or were handled outside the FOI Act). All are included on a month-by-month basis in the following tables:
