Deputy Kieran O’Donnell Deputy Kieran O’Donnell
Deputy Kieran O’Donnell asked the Minister for Transport his views on adding investigating accidents resulting in death on public transport to the remit of the Safety Commission that will incorporate air, rail and marine as announced; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [39982/08]
Deputy Noel Dempsey Deputy Noel Dempsey
Deputy Noel Dempsey: The investigation of public transport accidents other than those occurring in air, rail and maritime modes of transport is the responsibility of An Garda Síochána. I have no proposals to change this arrangement in the context of the amalgamation of accident investigation functions as announced in Budget 2009.
