Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science when the application for the refurbishment of a yard in a school (details supplied) in County Meath was received; if tenders have been sought; when the contract will be sanctioned; the length of time the remediation works will take to complete; the person who is legally responsible and liable if a child or a teacher has an accident in the school yard, in its present unsafe condition; and if he will make a statement on the matter.   Deputy Batt O’Keeffe: The Department has received an application for refurbishment of a yard in the school referred to by the Deputy. This application is currently under consideration at present and it is expected that Department officials will be back in contact with the school authorities with a decision on this application very shortly.
