Deputy Leo Varadkar asked the Minister for Health and Children the date of establishment of the Central Mental Hospital; if this body is still in existence; the purpose and role of this board; the number of members of the board; the number of whom are appointed by her; the person the remaining board members are appointed by; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [642] Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children (Deputy Jimmy Devins) The Central Mental Hospital was established in 1850, and is still in existence. The appointment and role of any Board is a matter for the HSE.
