[33803/07] Deputy Brian Lenihan Deputy Brian Lenihan Deputy Brian Lenihan: I am advised by the Director General of the Irish Prison Service that the numbers of offenders serving sentences for rape who were released on completion of sentence between 2001, which is the earliest year for which computerised records are available, and 2006 are set out in the table.
1227 [1227] The vast majority of persons convicted of such offences would have remained in custody right up to their remission date.
