[1441] Deputy Noel Grealish asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the situation regarding the provision of a new Garda divisional headquarters for Galway; when he envisages that work will begin on this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26298/07]

Deputy Brian Lenihan: I have been informed by the Garda authorities that it is planned to build a new Regional and Divisional Headquarters in Galway. The Commissioners of Public Works, who have responsibility for the provision, refurbishment and maintenance of Garda buildings, with the agreement of An Garda Síochána, have identified a suitable site for the project and I am informed that they are at present finalising the framework and scoping of works for the engagement of a design team. I assure the Deputy that there will be no avoidable delay in progressing this project.
