Deputy Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that thousands of disabled people in the Health Service Executive south area have been unable to access basic dental care for the past six months due to the withdrawal of the full general anaesthetic service at the UCC School of Dentistry at Cork University Hospital; the measures she is taking to have this matter resolved to avoid further inconvenience and suffering for these patients; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Deputy Mary Harney: The Deputy’s question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
