Deputy Brian O’Shea asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his proposals to enact Part 8 of the Local Government Act 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17438/07]

Deputy Emmet Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will issue the regulations enabling the creation of additional town councils here in good time to enable elections for such town councils in 2009. [17556/07]

Deputy Leo Varadkar asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will increase the number of councillors in Fingal County Council in recognition of the large increase in population; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17764/07]

The Agreed Programme for Government contains a commitment to publish a Green Paper on Local Government Reform. This Paper will examine a number of issues in relation to the organisation of Irish local government including the establishment of new town councils and the powers of town councils. In the context of preparing the Green Paper, I will give consideration to those parts of the Local Government Act, 2001 which have not yet been commenced.
