Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the number of post offices and sub-post offices [1420] closed in County Waterford between 1 January 1997 and 31 December 2006; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5700/07]

  Mr. N. Dempsey: Post office closures are a matter for the board and management of An Post and I have no statutory function in the matter. However, An Post has been asked to supply the information requested, which will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.
