Dr. Twomey Dr. Twomey
Dr. Twomey asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a vaccine damage compensation scheme has not been introduced by her Department in view of the fact that there was a commitment that this issue would receive priority in her Department’s 2006 business plan and that matters relating to this compensation scheme go back as far as November 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Ms Harney Ms Harney
Ms Harney: The issue of the feasibility of introducing a no-fault a compensation scheme for those damaged by vaccination is being considered by my Department. A steering group with specific terms of reference is now being established and it will be asked to furnish its report as a matter of urgency.
