Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the number of persons who received rent allowance in 2003, 2004 and 2005; and the cost to his Department for each respective year. [34760/06]

Mr. Brennan: The supplementary welfare allowance scheme, which includes rent supplement, is administered on my behalf by the Community Welfare division of the Health Service Executive. The number of rent supplement recipients and expenditure for the years 2003, 2004 and 2005 are shown in the attached tabular statement.
