Mr. English asked the Taoiseach the number of farmers in County Meath at 30 June for each of the years 2002 to 2006 inclusive; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26355/06]

  Mr. Kitt:The exact information requested by the deputy is not available. The Farm Structure Survey provides regional estimates and the following table shows figures for the combined Mid-East & Dublin regions on 1 June 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2003 (the latest year currently available).

The combined Mid-East & Dublin regions comprise counties Kildare, Meath and Wicklow and Dublin County Borough, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin. Figures at county level are available from the 2000 Census of Agriculture. There were 4,500 farms in County Meath on 1 June 2000.
