  393. Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the reason work has stopped at a house (details supplied) in Dublin 5; and the further reason rats and pigeons are causing a major health hazard to the local community. [5095/06]

  Mr. O’Donoghue: Northside Arts and Cultural Centre Limited was allocated a grant of €380,921, of which €190,460 was drawn down, in 1996 by the former Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands under the 1994-99 cultural development incentives scheme to redevelop the property in question as an arts and cultural centre. This company had leased the property from the Eastern Health Board. In March 2001, Northside Arts and Cultural Centre advised the Department that it could not proceed with the project. It is understood that the leasehold on the property has been surrendered to the owner and that property maintenance, upkeep and so forth are a matter for the Health Service Executive. My Department is not responsible for the property.
