Written Answers. - Health Service Executive.

  202. Mr. Lowry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if she has ordered the Health Service Executive nationally to operate as a single service without boundaries; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Health Service Executive still operates under the existence of the former health board boundaries; and if she will make a statement on the matter.   Ms Harney: The Health Service Executive was established under the Health Act 2004 as a national body to improve, promote and protect the health and welfare of the public. The delivery of services is an operational matter and is the responsibility of the executive. Under the Health Act 2004 the executive must prepare and submit to me its service plan for the coming year and must, amongst other things, indicate the type and volume of health and personal social services to be provided by the executive on a national basis. This national service plan was laid before the Oireachtas in early January.
