[279]   217. Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Education and Science, further to Question No. 1187 of 28 September 2005, the reason a letter from the school planning section referred to in the question was not received and a letter of clarification was not returned; when acknowledgement of the correspondence will be received; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27207/05]

Ms Hanafin: The school planning section of the Department of Education and Science wrote to the chairperson of the group proposing the development of the school in question in July 2005. This letter requested clarification on where exactly it was intended to establish the school. A response from the chairperson was received later that month indicating a preferred location. A further letter recently issued to the chairperson explaining that the Department is carrying out a review of the overall need at primary and post-primary level in the area in question. The proposer’s application will be considered in this context.
