274. Mr. F. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will reconsider the issue of awarding an extra allowance to all teachers in disadvantaged schools in order to deal with the school stability issue. [33812/04]

Ms Hanafin: Regarding the allowance referred to by the Deputy the position is that, as part of normal industrial relations procedures, claims for improvement in the conditions of employment of teachers are matters appropriate for discussion at Teachers’ Conciliation Council.
