116. Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has not been allowed a medical card in respect of their child; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [30918/04]

Ms Harney:Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
