Written Answers. - Drugs Payment Scheme.

  238. Mr. Cregan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if the three-monthly maintenance costs incurred by patients using a defibrillator will be included in the drugs and prescription refund scheme. [27113/04]

Ms Harney:Community drug schemes do not make provision for maintenance costs associated with machines of the nature referred to by the Deputy. Reimbursement of expenses incurred on certain aids and appliances, such as oxygen equipment, is a matter for the relevant health board.
