288. Mr. Neville asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children when a medical card will be made available to a person (details [1030] supplied) in County Laois from the Midland Health Board. [25266/04]

Ms Harney: Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board-authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
