Written Answers. - Colombia Three.

  120. Mr. O’Connor asked the Taoiseach if he [386] will report on his meeting with the President of Colombia with regard to the Colombia Three; if his attention has been drawn to the wide interest in this issue; the assurances these persons have received; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17202/04]

The Taoiseach: I raised the case of the three men detained in Colombia with President Uribe at our recent meeting. My concern was for the safety of the men and I raised with the President the possibility of allowing them home pending an appeal. As of now, I have not had any official communication from the Colombian authorities but I understand they have indicated that the Government there had no objection to the three men being allowed home pending an appeal, but this was a matter for the judiciary there.
