263. Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has been unable to have a hernia operation as a public patient at University College Hospital, Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16408/04]

Mr. Martin:The provision of hospital services to residents of County Galway is the responsibility of the [1351] Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position regarding the case and to reply directly to the Deputy.
