  227. Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if funding has been made available to carry out a feasibility study for a marina (details supplied) at Schull, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15183/04]

  Mr. D. Ahern: In March 2002, an application was submitted under the marine tourism grant scheme of the national development plan for funding towards a feasibility study for a marina at Schull, County Cork. However, the grant scheme was suspended in December 2002 due to lack of funding and each of the applicants were so notified.

No funding was available to the grant scheme in 2003 or in 2004. In light of the findings of the [492] mid-term review of the regional operational programmes completed by the ESRI, which recommended reallocation of funds to other priorities, it is unlikely that the scheme will be reactivated within the term of the national development plan.
