Dáil Éireann - Volume 583 - 31 March, 2004

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

[338]   209. Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government if he will approve funding for a sewerage scheme (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10194/04]

Mr. Cullen: I presume the question relates to the Lanesboro Road, Roscommon. An extension of the Roscommon sewerage scheme along the Lanesboro Road was approved for funding under the serviced land initiative of my Department’s water services investment programme in 2001. However, the approved proposal has since been modified by Roscommon County Council in favour of a more extensive and significantly more costly scheme. The revised proposal, which involves an increase in estimated cost from €0.3 million to €1.3 million, is being examined in my Department in light of additional information received from the council earlier this month. It will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
