  Mr. Walsh: Following clarification from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, my Department wrote to the local authorities. It was pointed out that the afforestation of agricultural land is no longer covered by the local authorities planning regulations. It is now subject to the forest consent system introduced by the European Communities (Environmental Impact Assessment) [1209] (Amendment) Regulations 2001 (S.I. No. 538 of 2001).
