  Mr. Martin: I have had several meetings with the Irish Hospital Consultants Association and the Irish Medical Organisation in recent weeks. Between [727] meetings, I have had regular contact with their respective leaders. The Government has given repeated assurances to consultants that it will fully support any Irish consultant member of the Medical Defence Union who is left without indemnity cover as a result of the exercise of an arbitrary discretion by that organisation.
