Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if persons (details supplied) in County Kildare are unable to receive the terrestrial channels, if they are exempt from having to hold current television licences. [4575/04] Mr. D. Ahern Mr. D. Ahern Mr. D. Ahern: The position is that a television set constitutes apparatus for wireless telegraphy as defined in the Wireless Telegraphy Acts 1926 to 1988. Under these Acts, it is an offence to possess appartus for wireless telegraphy except under and in accordance with a licence.
