  788. Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the long overdue report on the feasibility of an all-Ireland helicopter emergency medical service has not been published; the stage the report has reached; when the report will be published. [2256/04]

  Mr. Martin:My Department and the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, Belfast, commissioned a feasibility study and report on the costs and benefits associated with the introduction of a dedicated helicopter emergency medical services, HEMS, for the island of Ireland. The final report of the consultants appointed to undertake the study has recently been received by both Departments and will be published shortly.
