Mr. D. Ahern Mr. D. Ahern
Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. D. Ahern):I refer the Deputy to my reply to a parliamentary question, reference 28745/03.
The proposals submitted by the North East Strategic Regional Partnership are still under consideration by my Department, in consultation with the Department of Finance. A series of trials of wireless local area network technology is being concluded for my Department by Digiweb Limited in a number of locations in County Louth, namely, Dundalk, Drogheda, Ardee, Blackrock, Knockbridge and Dunleer, to assess the suitability of this technology as a platform for the delivery of advanced broadband services in the region. A full report on these trials is expected by the end of 2003.
