143. Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if the number of hours of home tuition allocated to a person (details [1384] supplied) in County Kilkenny will be increased from seven to 10 based on the recommendations made by the teachers involved. [21699/03]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. N. Dempsey): I can confirm that my Department sanctioned seven hours home tuition for the person in question from September to the end of December 2003, subject to review within this period. This allocation equates to the same level sanctioned for the 2002-03 school year. It is open to the family to appeal my Department's decision and further consideration will be given to the matter.
