1122. Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the cost to the State [691] on an annual basis of providing each Cabinet Minister with a car. [19808/03]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. McDowell): I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the annual cost of providing cars for Cabinet Ministers is €2.9 million. This is an annual cost of approximately €170,000 per Minister.
