1087. Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Transport when capacity on the Kildare Arrow route will increase by 130% in peak hour times in view of major progress on the Heuston Station project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21304/03]

Minister for Transport (Mr. Brennan): I understand from Irish Rail that the Heuston Station project will be completed by the end of 2003. The company is currently introducing into service its new fleet of 80 diesel railcars intended for use on outer suburban services. A number of these [674] railcars are destined for the Kildare corridor. Their introduction will increase the peak hour capacity on suburban services on the Kildare line, between now and January 2004, by 130% through longer trains and extra services.
