335. Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of prison [1195] officers attached to each prison or place of detention that have requested transfers; if such requests will be facilitated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19477/03]

I am not in a position now to say when the Irish Prison Service will be in a position to facilitate the officers' requests for transfer. The position is that transfers are normally effected on a seniority basis subject to fillable vacancies arising and the needs of the service at the time.
