187. Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the number of successful applications from County Kildare for capital grants for each of the past three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14831/03]

Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism (Mr. O'Donoghue): The national lottery funded sports capital programme, which is administered by my Department, allocates funding to sporting and community organisations at local, regional and national level throughout the country. The programme is advertised on an annual basis.

The number of projects located in County Kildare which were allocated funding under the programme over the past three years were as follows: in 2000, 29 projects allocated a total of €2,541,381; in 2001, 38 projects allocated a total of €3,853,660; and in 2002, 30 projects allocated a total of €4,870,000.
