[949]  223. Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Finance the reasons the green-field site in Drogheda offered to the Board of Works for a passport office was rejected by his Department. [12937/03]

Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Parlon): The Commissioners of Public Works were advised by the Department of Foreign Affairs that the new passport office needs to be within easy reach of public transport and other facilities, such as shops, especially given that staff would be attending on a shift work basis. It was considered that the site in question did not meet these criteria.
