[1053]   809. Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if the feasibility study for the marina at Westport, as announced earlier in 2002, has been carried out; if so, the results of the study; and when the results will be announced. [16046/02]

  Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. D. Ahern): Mayo County Council carried out a feasibility study for the provision of a marina at Westport Quay, Westport, County Mayo, on behalf of a consortium comprising Mayo County Council, Westport Harbour Commissioner and Westport Town Council. This study was completed in February 2002 and a copy was submitted to my Department. My understanding is that the study found that the provision of a marina in Westport Harbour is physically feasible on the basis of the information available. However, the further development of such a marina will be a matter for Mayo County Council and its partners.
