135. Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the action he will take on foot of the Competition Authority's findings regarding the legal system. [2924/02]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): As part of its response to the OECD report, Regulatory Reform in Ireland, which was launched on 24 April 2001, the Government asked the Competition Authority to initiate a comprehensive study of the professional services sector. This study, which is under way, will cover the legal profession and I await its outcome with interest.
