Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will consider the funding of a sculpture feature as part of the major renewal of Mountjoy Prison as proposed by local residents for a site on the adjoining Royal Canal; and if his Department officials will meet residents to discuss this matter as part of the consultation process. Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): As the Deputy is aware, officials of the Prison Service have met on several occasions with local residents in relation to the redevelopment of Mountjoy Prison. I will consider any proposal put to me by the local residents. To date, I have not received any proposal of the kind referred to by the Deputy. Prison Service officials are available to meet local residents [1338] at the latter's request provided they are given reasonable notice.
