Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if legislation to cover the situation of temporary teachers will be introduced in the current Dáil session; if an improvement in the conditions governing the payment of such teachers for vacation periods will be included in the legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): Legislation aimed at implementing EU directive 97/81/EC of the Council of the European Union concerning the Framework Agreement on Part-time Work is currently before the Dáil. The position of temporary teachers will be reviewed when the legislation is enacted.
