Mr. Crawford asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of jobs established in each of the six Border counties in the past four years; if she is satisfied that sufficient efforts have been made to establish industry on the IDA site on the Armagh Road outside Monaghan town; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20426/01] Ms Harney Ms Harney Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Ms Harney): The provision of jobs in any area is a day to day matter for the industrial development agencies, and not one for which I as Minister have a function. In relation to job creation by the industrial development agencies – IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the county enterprise boards – in each of the six Border counties over the past four years, details are provided in the attached tables which I am circulating with the official report. The availability of an advance factory is critical in securing a job creation project for Monaghan. IDA Ireland has secured planning permission for the construction of a 25,000 square foot factory and has recently invited tenders from private developers to finance and build this facility on the Monaghan Business Park site in Monaghan town. IDA's objective is to secure a client for this factory at the earliest date. IDA Ireland is also finalising the sale of a three acre site to Monaghan County Enterprise Board to encourage investment in teleservices and software development type operations as part of the Armagh-Monaghan digital corridor initiative. Enterprise Ireland's north east regional office has had a number of meetings with IDA in relation to allocating EI clients space on the IDA estate at Armagh Road in Monaghan town, including clients wishing to expand or relocate in Monaghan. Enterprise Ireland is also participating with Monaghan County Enterprise Board in the development of an Armagh-Monaghan digital corridor project to be based on the Knockaconny Site. 615 [615] IDA Ireland Border area gross gains in employment:
