Dr. McDaid Dr. McDaid
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Dr. McDaid): As I informed the House on 1 May, the Irish Sports Council has issued a press release stating that it does not support the use of creatine in sport. It has, in addition, issued a recommendation to athletes and players not to use the product. This recommendation is based on evidence of a number of short-term side effects associated with it, including muscle and gastrointestinal dysfunction and dehydration.
