154. Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the proportion of taxpayers who are earning under £15,000 per annum; under £20,000 per annum; under £30,000 per annum; and more than £30,000 per annum. [13156/01]

Minister for Finance (Mr. McCreevy): I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the information requested, estimated by reference to the income tax year 2001 to 2002, is as follows:

Proportions of all income earners on tax records, including tax exempt individuals, by ranges of income

Gross Income £	Numbers (000's)	% of all income earners
Not exceeding £15,000	924.9	52.2
£15,001 – £20,000	229.4	13.0
£20,001 – £30,000	275.8	15.6
More than £30,000	338.9	19.2

These figures are provisional and subject to revision. A married couple who has elected or has been deemed to have elected for joint assessment is counted as one tax unit.
