268. Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will arrange for his Department or the South Eastern Health Board to have immediate finances made available to open and operate the Kilkenny Women's Refuge Project. [4851/01]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): The provision of services for women victims of violence in the South Eastern Health Board region is a matter, in the first instance, for the South Eastern Health Board. I have made substantial additional funding available to the health boards for 2001 for women victims of violence which should result in a considerable improvement to these services.
